Tyler Miller, MD, PhD

Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Assistant Professor of Pathology

Dr. Tyler Miller is a physician-scientist and the Paul and Betsy Shiverick Professor of Immuno-Oncology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. As a practicing pathologist and researcher, his work focuses on developing novel immunotherapy strategies for solid tumors, with a particular emphasis on rare brain cancers. Dr. Miller leads a translational research lab that integrates advanced single-cell genomics, spatial transcriptomics and proteomics, and patient-derived tumor organoid modeling to better understand and target the immunosuppressive myeloid cells that contribute to tumor resistance. His work has uncovered fundamental mechanisms of myeloid-driven immunosuppression in glioblastoma and other rare cancers, paving the way for more effective immunotherapeutic approaches. Beyond his research, Dr. Miller is an active mentor and collaborator, leading multi-institutional efforts to improve ex vivo preclinical modeling of rare cancers. He serves as a key partner in the CURE Initiative at Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, advancing research infrastructure and discovery pipelines to accelerate rare cancer treatment development.
