Dr. Rolnick is an academic physician with forty years’ experience practicing Emergency Medicine. He founded the first academic Department of Emergency Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and was its first Chairman.
While at Georgetown, he was the innovator of several unique programs and was medical founder and director of GERMS, the student-operated, on-campus Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service. In his honor, the medical school created the Michael Rolnick Award at graduation for the best medical student in Emergency Medicine. Additionally, he was the Medical Director of World Access, a company that provided health care and patient evacuation for international travelers. Dr. Rolnick retired from clinical practice in late 2013 but continues teaching in medical education and participates in the National Emergency Medicine Foundation.
