Dr. Schwartz’s vision is to establish highly innovative, transformative translational clinical research programs in cancer therapies. After becoming Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (Case CCC) Director in April 2023, he successfully led a rigorous Cancer Center Support Grant review process, further solidifying Case CCC’s national status in the top 4% of NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers and hosted the first Rare Cancer Consortium meeting to foster collaboration among experts to advance treatment options for rare malignancies. Notably, he is the first Case CCC Director to maintain clinical practices at both University Hospitals (UH) and Cleveland Clinic, strengthening partnerships across institutions. Beyond research and clinical leadership, Dr. Schwartz is deeply committed to community outreach. Under his guidance, Case CCC launched a Health & Wellness series in East Cleveland, OH, and launched impactful skin cancer awareness campaigns, including public education initiatives and prevention efforts in collaboration with local organizations. Nationally, Dr Schwartz continues to promote and provide rare cancer patients access to novel therapies as Co-Chair of the Experimental Therapeutics Rare Cancer committee for the national cooperative groups. His dedication to advancing national scientific discovery and community health continues to shape the future of cancer care and prevention.
